What is your trick…

To getting a child to nap?  Kole has never been much of a consistent napper or napper at all and I am getting really frusturated!  I know he is tired so I feed him and then lay him down but then he opens his eyes wide open and thinks it’s play time!  Right now he is in his crib ‘napping’ but he just keeps rolling around and whimpering.  What is your secret???

Well I hear you on the frustrated front, but when I have my most success with Alexys is when I am on a set schedule. Like eat at the same time, wake up at the same time, nap at the same time…I literally hold her down in her crib until she falls asleep. No tricks, just the same schedule over and over works…sometimes!!!

Hey Sheena! I agree with the previous comment – consistent schedule worked for Sommer. She naps every day around 1 or 130, even when she is at daycare. Also, when she was Kole’s age I would feed her, rock her and sing to her. That was they key for us – rocking her until she was “almost asleep” so she learned how to put herself to sleep. Just be consistent and don’t give up! I always think it’s okay if they cry themselves to sleep (I know others don’t agree…).
