22 weeks…

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:15 am by sheenashepherd

Here is finally an updated photo….excuse the messy house and the poor picture, Conrad has never been very good with a camera!  I am feeling good lately, besides coming down with another nasal infestion two weeks ago and my ongoing heartburn of course!  Last week we both were off work to finally enjoy summer…a tad too late , but we did have nice weather!  At work we hired on another employee to cover my maternity leave and too stick around afterward…oh happy day!  It is crazy to think that in four months I will be off work for a whole year…and have a BABY!  And then a few months after that….a new HOUSE!  Next year will be full of changes in the Shepherd household but I can not wait!  Well, I must go as a wonderful friend of mine is celebrating her birthday today and is currently on the phone with my husband…I know you can’t talk to him too long Christina so I will get him off soon!

My heart is filled with sadness…

As I just found out today that a close co-worker of mine suffered a miscarriage.  She was seven weeks ahead of me (which makes her 28 weeks) and we had been attending pre-natal aqua-fit together.  Everything seemed fine and both mom and baby were healthy but on Tuesday the baby’s heart just stopped beating and they are not sure why at this point.  She is currently waiting to hear from the hospital as to when they can go in and deliver.

This news was very hard to hear this afternoon and I just wanted to cry.  I can not imagine what emotions that are going through right now but I will be praying for her and her husband as much as I can!   Life never seems fair, especially in this case as she just lost her mother back in March.  Please, if you remember, can you please say a quick prayer for the Hubick’s as they will be needing it.

Thank you in advance.

Baby Boy Shepherd

For those of you who didn’t know, the last ultrasound we went to, we should have told the Doctor that we didn’t want to find out the sex because he blurted it out…but then felt awful as it was a slip-up. Luckily it wasn’t that big of a deal for us but he could only give us a 70% chance that it was a boy. Yesterday we pretty much found out 100% that we are indeed expecting a boy. We were in ultrasound room for a very long time it seemed, over an hour, but were told that everything is fine. They managed to find all the major organs, all fingers and toes, all four limbs and a few close-ups on the face. He was even looking right at us at one point and blinked, that was pretty cool! He was also very active, swimming around trying to avoid getting his photo taken. One of the sonographers even told us that he had ‘the most beautiful heart’! I think that must come from my side of the family! I also think that his nose already looks like his dads, but we will have to wait and see! I was also told that my placenta is in the anterior position (the front wall of the uterus) which is probably why I have not felt any movement yet, I hope it doesn’t muffle movement the entire time because I just want to feel him kick me already (don’t ever tell him that I said that!). But all in all, everything looks fine and the due date still remains January 29, 2009…we are half way there as I am now 20 weeks!

Shepherd happenings

Things are good but busy with us lately.  My little brother has moved into our basement as well as about 30 boxes of my sisters stuff!  Also, Mom and Dad moved to BC which is very very exciting and we can not wait to go and visit them!  Dana and Andrea came from Lloydminster for the weekend and it was very relaxing, we went to the Labour Day game and watched all three Bourne movies…maybe we should name our child Jason Bourne?!  This week I am sleepy though!!  I went to Pre-Natal Aqua-Fit with a co-worker (also expecting) last night and it was a good time!  The pool was warm which was so nice!  Tonight Conrad and I are going to stop by The Bay as it is apparently Baby week and stuff is 20% off.  We are searching for a fairly cheap baby crib and dresser to go along with it.  I realize that we have lots of time to shop for this stuff but if I can find good deals, I don’t mind storing it in the already-bursting basement for a few months.  Sometimes I wonder if we are going to be able to afford a child…I guess it is too late now!

Anyway, that is all for now, some day hopefully I will have more energy for a longer post!
