We live in the coldest place ever!

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:53 pm by sheenashepherd

Is it wrong that I sometimes hate living in Saskatchewan?  Especially on days like today that the temperature is down to -52 c with the wind chill…that is just wrong!  This just reinforces why we are going to Phoenix!  In fact, I might just stay there!

In other news, my little brother is back from Bolivia and currently (hopefully) Flying to Edmonton from Toronto.  Sure can’t wait to talk to him and hear all about his mission trip!

I feel stupid…

A couple weeks ago I made a post on how excited I am for Phoenix and that it will be our first trip together…I was wrong (thanks for the reminder Mel!).  The summer we got married we went down to Vancouver, Washington to stay with our friends, James and Melissa,  parents.  We drove down and stayed there for a week.  It was such a great trip because we did so much, I thought I would reminisce about a few of them:

  • Ross Dress for Less (the best store in the world)
  • Tubing near Mt. Saint Helens

  • Climbing up a little cliff to explore…then had to jump off as the boat left us behind

  • Shopping at a mall with no tax.  We bought shoes, jackets, etc., it was great!
  • Mel’s family, they are great!!  They must be great people if they can put up with us for a whole week!
  • The swing in the backyard.  I read there almost every morning…we finally bought one this past summer so I could do it all the time!
  • The cheese factory.  So much for learning how they make cheese, we just saw how they package it…we got ripped off!
  • The ocean.  It was Conrad’s first time and it was beautiful…besides the girls that made out with eachother in front of our husbands…and I suppose the crab that bit James’ finger.

  • and much more…

Thanks for the reminder Mel.  It was a great trip and crazy to think of how much has changed since then!

This special person in my life is leaving on Sunday afternoon for a year in New Zealand.  I am going to miss her and I can’t think of her leaving without crying, but I am glad she is going, she deserves this adventure more than anyone I know!

It is sad to see you leave as you have been a large part of our success this past season.  If it was any other college team, we know you would still be here but it’s your alma mater, your team, your home, we understand.

Just hand down the reigns to Richie Hall!!

Some interesting things that might just change the world

  • First the site http://blackle.com/!  It is exactly like Google.com but it saves 393,606.328 Watt hours because it has a black screen.
  • Drinking Robins Donuts coffee (I was told that I should put this on here) because they now brew fair trade coffee.  Read the release here http://www.robinsdonuts.com/index.cfm?menuID=home&subID=organicRoast.  Thanks Blair for bringing this up, even if it is hard to switch from Tim Hortons!
  • The Smart Strip Power Strip, see here http://bitsltd.net/ConsumerProducts/tour1.html.  I saw this on Oprah the other day and need to find where I can buy one for myself.  This handy little power strip helps save you time, energy and money.
  • The Green Book, http://readthegreenbook.com/I purchased this book several months ago now but it is so helpful.  It’s non preachy and illustrates the million little things we can do to be greener without any real inconvenience. While it is a practical / how-to kind of a book, it also supports it’s suggestions with real statistics and even has the references to back them up.
  • http://www.norwex.com/norwex/  Norwex’s whole concept is Clean without Chemicals and I can tell you from experience that I absolutely love their product.  When you actually take a look at all the nasty chemicals you have in your house to clean the bathrooms, the floors, the laundry, the windows, etc.  it is disgusting.  So much research today is linking cleaning products to a number of health issues like cancer, infertility and asthma to name a few.  If this is infecting adults like that, how do we think it will affect our children??

Well, that is what is on my mind this Saturday night!  The plan for tomorrow…go to church, finish my first aid studying, some laundry and then supper with great friends!  Goodnight!

Countdown to Phoenix trip…6 weeks!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:25 pm by sheenashepherd

I am getting so excited!  We bought our tickets for the Phoenix vs LA game and Phoenix vs Boston game, don’t worry, we got much better tickets for the Boston game, first row baby!!!  The condo is rented, gas is priced out, the vehicle will be rented shortly…it is all falling together, just a little more expensive than we thought!  And as much as I am getting excited for the trip, I know Conrad is getting twice as excited, it is so nice to see him all giddy about seeing Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to name a few.  This is our first trip together ever, we can’t wait!
