Can you forgive me??

I clearly have not been on here for almost a year, yikes!  I am sorry to leave everyone hanging but there has just been no time!

I went back to work in January and I sure did not realize how busy that makes life!  I work full time, Monday to Friday, which leaves us home at 6pm, make supper, eat, bath and then almost bedtime for Kole, I hardly see him anymore!  At first it felt like a holiday to be at work, but now that has changed!

Conrad recently changed jobs, he is now at Habitat for Humanity and absolutely LOVING it!!  He loves waking up everyday knowing that he is helping families reach their goal of one day owning a home.  If you don’t know much about Habitat, google it and learn more (http://www.habitatregina.ca/), they are wonderful.  The Regina team is as close as a family and each have the same goal and reasons why they are there.  He is so blessed to have found this job!

We have moved again, yikes!  We moved back into Regina and into an older home but a little bit bigger.  We decided that with wanting to expand our family, we would like to cut down on our mortgage and any other payments we are making.  We are hoping this decision will make our future a little bit more comfortable and leave us with a little bit of money to be able to have fun with!  We LOVE our house but are still not quite unpacked, it will come though.

In other news, are found out we are indeed expanding our family.  At the same time we moved and Conrad changed jobs, we found out that we were expecting our second.  This all happened at once and was slightly overwhelming but we are very blessed!  Due date is June 4 and we can’t wait!!  Kole will be a great big brother!

In other news, I have read two blogs recently that really struck me.  They were about being Mother’s and how we are constantly overwhelmed, scared, tired, etc but we never talk about it.  We always try to appear that we have it all together and that is just not healthy or truthful.  Let all of us mother’s try to talk about this, call a friend, go for coffee, and just share where you are at right now.  It will make us all feel better to shed our fake skin and just be real.

I promise that I will try to be on here more :(

Please pray…

Please pray for our very close friends as they are having to deal with the loss of his mother.  We are with them now and they are doing as well as can be expected.  To loose a loved one is never easy but to loose her in this way is very hard to come to terms with.  I don’t even have the words to express the sadness in my heart at this time.

If you would like more information to be able to pray please follow the link below.

Thank you.

I figure that since I know lots of mothers that maybe you all can help me out…

- I am getting bored with lame activities that I am playing with Kole lately, does anyone have any exciting things to do with a 10 mth old that will keep his attention?

- I am really getting frustruated that Kole only falls asleep on us for either nap or bedtime.  We have tried the ‘let him cry’ approach and gone in every 5-10 min, soothe, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat but he never stops crying!  I know I should have started this from the beginning but I suppose with him being my first that I just loved cuddling him to sleep.  He goes to daycare in less than two months so I have to kick this habit soon!

- What are meal ideas that you have for a baby Kole’s age?  He loves trying new things but I just am not sure what I can be feeding yet.  I still give him cereal with baby food (as I love all the iron that he gets from it)  and he loves eating fruit but can I start giving him bits of what we are eating for supper?  Should I still wait on yogurt till he is one year?  I know every child is different so that should make me feel better but at the same time that sometimes frusturates me!!

- Any suggestions on how to prepare your child for daycare?  I know he will love it as he will be with other kids and playing all day but what can I do to help the daycare provider?

So when I was thinking about making this post I have a ton of really good questions but this is all I can come up with right now, sigh :(

Life lately

I really should be getting ready for the day as Kole is sleeping but I really feel like enjoying my coffee and blogging instead!  Life is busy as always so here is a point form version of it in case you care:

  • Kole is 7.5 months old already!  He is growing so fast!  In two weeks he popped a tooth, started to crawl and started standing up on EVERYTHING!!!  I really have to watch him as he is still a bit wobbly.
  • Kole is going through a phase right now, an ‘I want Mommy and no one else’ phase.  Both myself and Conrad are not a fan of this phase but are hoping it ends soon as it is exhausting….on me!
  • Stella & Dot is starting to pick up!  I have an open house at the end of this month at the local coffee shop and then four trunk shows after that!  It started of kind of slow, especially because I am not a good salesperson, but the word is spreading so I think I will keep busy with it over the next few months.
  • We visited my parents in BC at the end of August.  We had a great time and now Conrad wants to move out there….badly!!
  • Conrad surprised me with tickets to Tony Bennett on Oct 9, I am so excited!!!
  • We have seen lots of babies lately and met Avery Kissick this past weekend.  She is the cutest baby girl with tons of dark, think hair.
  • Survivor starts tomorrow!!  We have now found friends that share in our love for it so will be getting together every week to watch!
  • I am getting a hair cut tonight…not sure how though?  Maybe I should be spending this time figuring that out?!
  • My cousins wedding is in Edmonton the first weekend of October and I am very excited!  My whole family will be there so it should be a great time!  We will be driving there and breaking up the trip with a night there and back being spent in Kindersley to see Conrad’s family too!
  • I go back to work on Jan. 18…the countdown is on and not in a good way!
  • My sister is going to India next summer, I am so happy for her as it will be a great opportunity for a possible career with NGO’s.
  • Both my brothers are back in Regina!  It is nice to have them so close, especially so Kole can see them!
  • My Aunt had her quarterly MS treatments this past weekend, please pray for a speedy recovery!
  • I think that is all I can think of now…until next time!

I hosted my launch party a couple of weeks ago and had a great turn out!  I made a few sales and have two potential parties so that is pretty exciting.  I also had a party at my Mom’s last week and we had a better turn out than expected so we were both happy about that.  Let me know if anyone out there is interested in the product or having a party as I would be delighted!

Stella & Dot

Just this week I have taken on a new adventure that I am really excited about!  The company is called Stella & Dot and you can find more information on my website at www.stelladot.com/sheena.  I came across their jewelry by complete accident but have fallen in love with it!  I am having my launch party at my house on Thursday, August 20 and I am very much looking forward to it!  Check it out and let me know what you think!

Well, since we have moved into our new house, Kole has had two to three naps a day.  He is currently napping right now and has been down for almost two hours!!  I am not sure what provoked this (because I am sure not complaining) but I am loving it!!!

In other news:

  • My dearest friend Janelle is coming this weekend for a visit!!  I have not seen her since Jan 2008 before she left for New Zealand, I can not wait!
  • Looking forward to the Bachelorette finale on Monday!!
  • My PARENTS are coming next Tuesday for a week and then my siblings are coming for the weekend as Kole is getting baptized!  I absolutely can not wait!!!  The in-laws are also coming, along with the cutest neices EVER, and they will be staying at our house!  It will be a fantastic time!
  • The new owners of our house get possession tomorrow…kind of sad…or not!!
  • I bought a dress the other day from Roots to wear for a wedding…it was a size SMALL!!!!

Hopefully I will have time to blog a longer one soon!!

To getting a child to nap?  Kole has never been much of a consistent napper or napper at all and I am getting really frusturated!  I know he is tired so I feed him and then lay him down but then he opens his eyes wide open and thinks it’s play time!  Right now he is in his crib ‘napping’ but he just keeps rolling around and whimpering.  What is your secret???

Signed a frusturated mom

The pre-season game was last night and the weather was beautiful!  Kole did a great job but we did leave early in the 4th quarter.  Hallelujah the season has begun!!  (Sorry for the sideways pictures, I am unsure how to change them)

Other things that are keeping us busy are:

-the house!  Conrad is gone every night working on it!  Currently he is working on the hardwood flooring with our friend James.  They are having a working bee tonight so us wives are bringing them supper.  It is looking really good and hopefully I will get around to posting pictures when it is done!

-Doctor’s appointments and shots.  Kole had his four month shots…and it was sad.  He cried a lot more than last time but still did okay.  He goes to see the Pediatrician today for his four month check up.  I saw my Doc this morning and I have to go for more urine tests and possibly referred to a Nephrologist as something seems to be up with my kidneys.  I am not too worried but please pray that it is nothing.

-Planning for Kole’s baptism.  It is going to be the party of the century…just kidding!  If you are in the area it will take place on Aug. 2 at Bread of Life church at 9:30am.  My parents are visiting and my Dad will perform the baptism, how wonderful!

-Meeting close friends babies!  Two of my close friends recently had babies (Andrea-Jacob and Krystal-Aubrey).  They are both beautiful and healthy and such a blessing from God!

-Hanging out with my Aunt!  She had her prednizone treatments two weeks ago and is doing wonderfully!  Kole and I try to visit her at least twice a week but lately we have been over more as he just loves her!  As I type this they are both fast asleep on her LA Z BOY rocker…how adorable!

-Swimming!  Last week for Mom’s & Tot’s we decided to take the kids swimming and we had a blast!  So the following Friday my friend Sonja and I decided to take Kole swimming again but this time at my Aunt’s outdoor pool.  We all had a great time!

Well, I best go as Kole just woke up and we have to get ready for the Doctor!

We found out yesterday that everything went through so we have finally sold our house, wahoo!!  Possession for the new owners is July 24 and possession for our new house is early July.  I feel so much better knowing that we don’t have to worry about that anymore!

On a sadder note, I have some prayer requests:

  • A co-worker of mine passed away on Monday afternoon and her funeral is on Saturday.  Please pray for her family and the Greystone staff.
  • As well, a father of a friend of mine suffered a heart attack and is in the Saskatoon hospital.

Thanks so much!  Good night!
